NEW FINDS: PHONE OR PURSE OR SOMETHING COOLER?

You know by now I'm not into anything "traditional" unless you are trying to feed me a Thanksgiving meal...then I have a set list of traditional items you do not want to forget.  So when it comes to what you would call "the traditional accessory" you think of necklaces on chains, a cuff bracelet or two and on special occasions you switch out your studs for dangley earrings-- maybe a hat if you are so daring. Shoes. Purses.  BUT I LIVE ON THE WILD SIDE.

Also, I feel very foreign wearing lots of jewelry. I feel like I have too many things to keep track of.

Also, I am too picky when it comes to purses so I never buy them.

Also I am all about a singular statement piece.

THEN
I
FOUND

_______wait 4 it_______

this rad-as-hell cell phone case

I stubbled across a similar case (obviously v. knock-off) on one of those microtrendy sites like NastyGal or whatever..of course for the newest iPhone...and for my beautifully broken Samsung (two or three...idk...versions behind the times) I cried a few tears.  Then ran (figuratively, this is after all, only the internet) to Ebay.

& now it's mine.

& I love love love it because phones these days are too big for pockets and we forget things that are in pockets anyway.  I'm not sure why I've never seen a case with a strap like a purse before but I am ALL ABOUT IT.  This will be great for going out when i don't want to drag along a purse :)  I'm thinking of maybe making a simple black case with a strap too for more ~casual~ situations.

DO YOU HAVE THE TIME?

Greetings, earthlings!  Hope all is well!  Today I thought I would post about one of my favorite ways of accessorizing: the "wear a watch as an anklet" look. (Is there any way to say it that sounds more sophisticated?)  I can't stake claim to this beautiful idea, but I'm a whole-hearted fan & avid user of it.  As I've mentioned Style on the Hill before, this fabulous idea came from a time on the blog prior to it's revamp, a time long long ago in a far off land...one street style girl on campus obviously knew what was up.  Unfortunately, being so far back in the archives, I'm not sure the post even exists to use as reference but all I can say is,  "thank you girl whoever you were!"

Although completely impractical in a watch's actual function, it works.  I love the way of re-inventing and re-using items for unintended purposes.  I even got a hearty chuckle & a "girl, is that a watch?" out of it from a lovely rotund, black woman in passing when I was walking around downtown a few weeks ago while sporting the watch anklet.

Another thing I love is this muscle tee dress I got for cheaps at H&M this summer.  The first week I owned it, I didn't take it off (i.e.- 7 entire days & no real desire to actually stop except for the fact that friends had started to notice and worry about my well-being and sanity).  Alas, we all have those moments! Right?

Anyway, to make the look complete I decided that if I'm being weird with this watch thing, why not draw all the attention there with some shear polka dots socks and my slick black & gold booties.  I also tend to wear shorts under dresses because I'm a 6 year old, and to give the look a bit of color I chose some shiny pink spandex biker shorts from AA.

thanks for reading! xx Alex

HOLOGRAM

Look what I found....*_*, and what I could not pry myself from as I grazed around the rest of H&M this weekend-- A HOLOGRAPHIC PURSE.  If any of you are making your way to my blog from my personal tumblr, you already know the obsession I have for all things holographic.  It will definitely be my new going out carry-all and is the perfect size for such occasions!  Also thought I'd throw in an oldie-but-a-goodie with the fuzzy leopard chain purse.  Both are great to accessorize a sleek and simple or monochromatic look.
